To mark its 40th Anniversary the Britain-Nigeria Association published a booklet titled In Brotherhood We Stand. Written by the renowned historian Anthony Kirk-Greene, CMG., MBE., a distinguished member of the BNA Executive Committee, it fascinatingly details the history of the Association from 1961 to 2001.

Based on extensive research into the Association’s Minute books, Council records, Bulletins and Newsletters, this real and compelling ‘story’ about the founding of the BNA, its successes (and a few disappointments), and of the people who made it happen is told in five brief chronological chapters. A sixth, the largest, looked at the role of this Association and its multiple activities as it entered the 21st century. The booklet has a Foreword by the Duke of Edinburgh, the Association’s Patron since its inception, and an Introduction by Sir Mervyn Brown, who was President at the time of publication.

There are also accounts on the founding of the Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Memorial Trust and a number of very interesting memorabilia have been reproduced. The informative appendices include a valuable select reading list of books written about Nigeria since independence and of novels by Nigerian authors.
